For this project I have chosen the Article upon High Performance Groups: " Lessons from the Pygmies” which posted in the magazine of Organizational Dynamics intended for the issue of Wintertime 1999, and which was authored by Manfred N. R. Kets De Vries. I wish to share my appreciation to Prof. Gamini sobre Alwis, to get his guidance, advice and support delivered to me on the analysis of this Article. With no reluctance, Prof. para Alwis distributed his understanding among the course with good sense of wit enabling myself to understand the subject very easy.

1 . Summary of the Content

" Pygmy” is a expression used for different populations inhabiting in central Africa, and whose average height is normally short. The life span of the pygmy society is very easy and for the survival of the life they actually hunting game, gathering honies, fruits, almonds, roots, vegetation and specific insects, and trading with nearby villagers pertaining to vegetables, cigarettes, metal, equipment and outfits. This culture does not possess formal structure of guidelines. The entire community is working well with the informal rules, which originates from their lifestyle on technology to era. As a society they are well cooperative together and they have the good understanding about the society people. Honest parent figures whom respond to the needs of kids shows that just how much this society members will be with their children. This culture actually will not know about your child neglect and abuse.

The writer of the Article provides identified the particular society users having a lot of special qualities towards the decision making process and working since teams. This society provides corporate world with among the a cohesive team framework and which usually follows with effective management.

The writer has identified seven lessons in the " Pygmy” culture which help for the effective group work.

1). Members admiration and trust each other

In their everyday life these folks face wide range of threats. To overcome these kinds of threats, trust and shared dependency play an important part.

2). Associates protect and support each other

As a man condition clashes with team members are in keeping in the " pygmy” culture as well. The moment those comes up they will deal with differences among themselves when maintain individual self-respect.

3). Members engage in open dialogue and conversation

Willingness to exhibit emotions by simply society associates helps reduce defensiveness and leads to more honest conversation.

4). People share a powerful common aim

As in corporate world this society people also have a prevalent goal plus they work effectively towards reaching that objective as a team.

5). Members have got strong distributed values and beliefs

This kind of society is usually coming from technology to era and they do have culture and beliefs. These ideals and beliefs would specify the perceptions and norms that will business lead the behavior with the people of the contemporary society.

6). Users subordinate their particular objectives to the people of the crew These culture team members can also understand person and staff role and they operate in the boundaries of the team rules.

7). People subscribe to " distributed” command

In " pygmy” teams they do not have ‘Big men' concept. Leader is not the monopoly of one glorious leader. They will strongly believe leaders are distributed over the community and everybody can be involved in decision making...
